Public Response to a Controversial Message

Actor Jared Padalecki has issued an apology and retracted his public support for celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. The 44-year-old Supernatural star had initially posted a message wishing the 48-year-old blogger well following reports of his hospitalization. However, after receiving significant criticism from his followers, Padalecki clarified his position.

“I didn’t know. It’s been brought to my attention,” Padalecki wrote via X on Sunday, August 9. “I’m sorry ❤️.”

Context of the Incident

The controversy began after Hilton held a disturbing livestream that led to authorities being dispatched to his Miami residence. Reports indicate that the blogger engaged in actions suggestive of self-harm, resulting in emergency 911 calls from concerned family and fans. Hilton was subsequently admitted to a local hospital and placed under a 72-hour emergency mental health evaluation.

Padalecki’s Clarification

In a follow-up series of posts, Padalecki explained his original intent, noting that he lacked knowledge of Hilton’s history. “I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about his past,” the actor stated. “I had heard of him. Obviously. I had heard that he hadn’t exactly ‘been kind’ to me in the past. So, my thought is always to give grace and forgiveness to those who may have tried to ‘harm’ you.”

The actor further emphasized his ignorance regarding the specific nature of Hilton's professional history:

“That having been said, I TRULY didn’t know ANYTHING about the extent to what he has done. That’s my bad. On my life, I have never in my life, not once, looked him up or gone to one of his sites. I simply thought he was a ‘tabloid’ type of sensationalist journalist.”

Update on Hilton's Condition

While Hilton has not personally commented on the incident, his family has provided updates regarding his health. They described his condition as “serious but stable,” noting that the influencer suffered “significant blood loss” during the broadcast.

“He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days,” the family shared in a statement. “His treatment and recovery will be a long process. As our family remains focused on Perez’s treatment and recovery, we also need the space and privacy to care for everyone affected by this situation.”
