Reflecting on a Possible Musical Return
Mandy Moore, known for her successful transition from teenage pop sensation to a critically acclaimed actress, is sharing her thoughts on a potential return to the recording studio. Best remembered for her 1999 breakthrough hit “Candy,” the 42-year-old star has spent recent years focusing on her acting career, most notably with her role in This Is Us.
When asked if she intended to emulate her close friend Hilary Duff, who recently returned to music with a new album and world tour, Moore remained humble. In a recent interview, she noted: “I am not the superstar that Hilary is. I am so proud to watch her absolutely crush it on stage and performing around the country. She is such a role model to so many, myself included.”
Defining Her Own Path
Regarding the possibility of a comeback, Moore clarified that her musical ambitions have always differed from those of a traditional pop star. “I don’t have that canon of hits in the same way, and I’ve never had designs on being a pop star,” she explained.
However, Moore does envision a future return to music that aligns more closely with her current lifestyle and personal tastes. Married to indie singer-songwriter Taylor Goldsmith, she shared her vision for the future:
“My husband’s an indie singer-songwriter. I want to play theaters across the country and have him in my band and write records with him and friends of mine. I will find my way back to music.”
Balancing Family and Fame
For now, Moore is primarily focused on raising her three children with Goldsmith: sons Gus, 5, and Ozzie, 3, along with their 2-year-old daughter, Louise. She expressed that she would feel more comfortable pursuing musical projects once her children are older.
Interestingly, her past work has recently resurfaced at home. Moore shared that her son Gus has discovered her early hit “Candy.” “I’ve had to put a moratorium on it,” she joked about her son’s newfound obsession with the track. “I’m like, ‘Bud, I don’t want to hear it every day.’” She admitted that while it is fun to occasionally revisit the song, she is amused by her son’s growing awareness of her early career milestones.
