A Sister's Final Farewell

Following the sudden and tragic death of Southern Nazarene University sophomore safety Tyler Ulrich at just 21 years old, his sister, Kaylee Parrish, has shared a deeply moving public tribute. Ulrich passed away five days after sustaining a severe injury during a match against Ouachita Baptist University.

In a poignant post shared on social media on October 15, Parrish expressed the profound difficulty of processing such a loss:

«I never thought I would have to find the words to say goodbye to my big brother. No amount of time could have ever prepared me for the heartbreak of losing you. I wish I could hear your laugh one more time, or have just one more conversation with you. There are so many things I wish I could say and so many more memories I wish we could make together.»

She reflected on the sibling bond they shared, noting that she had always envisioned a future where they would grow old together. «It’s hard to imagine a world where you’re no longer here, and even harder knowing that life has to go on without you in it,» Parrish added.

The Circumstances and Family Response

While the university president, Keith Newman, confirmed that Ulrich had suffered a «traumatic injury» during the game, specific details regarding the incident remain limited, and an official cause of death has yet to be released.

The young athlete’s father, Mark, also addressed the public to express gratitude for the outpouring of support while confirming the heartbreaking news of his son's passing. He highlighted Tyler's character, stating:

«Our family is truly blessed to receive all the love and prayers for our young Tyler and we are ever grateful. Tyler led a life full of faith, passion and being a BEAST on the football field!!! He will be remembered always.»

Honoring His Legacy

In her closing remarks, Parrish pledged to keep her brother’s spirit alive through her own actions:

«Until then, I’ll carry you with me through every milestone, every memory, and every day of my life. I’ll love you, miss you, and wish you were here for the rest of my days. I’ll never let anyone forget you and I will spend the rest of my life trying to walk through your shoes and live the way you would want me to. I love you big brother, thank you for all you’ve taught me!»
