Public Support for Collin Gosselin

Stephanie Lebo, the wife of Jon Gosselin, has expressed her support for her step-son, Collin Gosselin, on social media. Amidst the ongoing and well-documented estrangement between 22-year-old Collin and his mother, Kate Gosselin, Lebo utilized Instagram to share her positive sentiments.

On Sunday, July 5, the 38-year-old reposted images from Collin’s Fourth of July celebrations, writing, “Love seeing you live the life you always deserved.” She further emphasized her support by adding, “And again, LIVE YOUR LIFE!”

Celebrating Independence

The photos shared by Collin captured him enjoying the holiday aboard a boat in Newport Beach, California. Accompanying the images, he wrote: “Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸. Grateful for the people who have fought, served, and worked to expand freedom across generations so that we can call this country home.” He continued by expressing a hope for a nation where individuals from all backgrounds can “belong, thrive, and be free.”

A Look Into the Past and Future

This public interaction follows recent announcements regarding Collin’s upcoming memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. The book promises to provide a deeper look into his experiences during and after his family’s tenure on the popular reality program Jon & Kate Plus 8.

The series, which premiered in the early 2000s, chronicled the lives of Jon and Kate Gosselin as they raised their eight children. Following the couple's 2009 divorce, the show continued as Kate Plus 8.

Reflecting on his upbringing, Collin previously stated, “My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown — in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden. For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation.”

The Root of the Estrangement

Collin has remained estranged from his mother since he was placed in a behavioral facility at the age of 11. After spending two years in the institution, he relocated to live with his father, Jon, who subsequently obtained custody.

Collin has alleged that his placement in the facility was an effort by Kate to silence him regarding claims of mistreatment. Kate Gosselin has consistently denied these accusations, maintaining that his institutionalization was a necessary step due to what she described as “violent and unpredictable behavior.”

When recently asked about potential legal action regarding these claims, Kate noted on social media that public figures often face challenges in the legal system, stating, “The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye.”
