A Last Public Appearance

NASCAR icon Kyle Busch was seen in high spirits during his final red carpet event alongside his wife, Samantha Busch. The couple attended the NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Charlotte, North Carolina, this past January. This appearance occurred just four months prior to the announcement of his passing on Thursday, May 21.

The pair was present at the ceremony to celebrate and support Kyle’s older brother, Kurt Busch, who was being officially inducted into the Hall of Fame that evening.

Remembering the NASCAR Legend

NASCAR confirmed in an official statement on Thursday that the professional driver passed away at the age of 41. According to his family, Kyle had been hospitalized battling a “severe illness” prior to his death.

Kyle Busch leaves behind his wife, Samantha, whom he married on New Year’s Eve in 2010, and their two children: 11-year-old son Brexton and 4-year-old daughter Lennix.

A Long-Lasting Romance

The couple's story began 16 years ago at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Samantha previously shared the details of their first meeting on social media, explaining that she was working as a promotional model for Chevrolet at the time.

«16 years ago, the promo model agency I worked for sent me down to Indianapolis to work for Chevy getting people hyped up for the races. I was going into my senior year of college at Purdue at the time, a sorority girl and no big surprise not the sportiest of types. So I can honestly say it was my first time at a race track!» Samantha wrote in an August 2023 Instagram post.

She recounted how the two first connected when she was offered a ride in a car driven by Kyle to escape the intense heat. At the time, she assumed he was also part of the promotional team. Samantha added, «We talked on the phone for 4 months before seeing each other and going on a date and the rest is history! Fast forward another 16 years and here we are with 2 kids! Love ya babe.»
