A Significant Milestone for the Chiefs QB

Brittany Mahomes has publicly expressed her excitement as her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, makes his long-awaited return to the football field. The star athlete had been sidelined for several months following a season-ending ACL injury sustained late in the 2025-2026 campaign.

On Saturday, July 25, 30-year-old Brittany shared a social media update featuring footage of Patrick arriving at the team’s training camp. Accompanied by a prayer emoji, she wrote: “Seeing him back doing what he loves. So thankful.”

Road to Recovery

The injury, which occurred near the conclusion of the previous season, kept Mahomes out of action during the Chiefs' final games, leading to an early exit for the team before the playoffs. Following surgery, Patrick spent the majority of the offseason focused on rehabilitation.

In a press conference held on July 24, the quarterback expressed his relief at reaching this stage of his recovery: “That’s the goal to be able to practice when we get to training camp, and we hit that next step. Now, it’s gonna be about building and keep getting better and better, so that whenever the regular season comes around, I can try to be available and ready to play.”

Medical Clearance and Looking Ahead

Mahomes noted that he received official medical clearance to participate in practice just days prior to the camp. He credited his progress to consistent performance markers that satisfied his medical team.

“He saw the numbers I was putting up and that gave him the comfortability to be fully cleared to practice,” Mahomes explained. “It’s still good to be out there and have bodies around and be able to run the offense. This is just another checkpoint on the schedule.”

Focusing on the Season Opener

Despite being back on the practice field, Mahomes remains cautious about his return to game-day action. He emphasized that there is still significant work ahead to regain his full form.

“You have to continue to work. It’s not, like, it’s over and I’m gonna be able to play a game tomorrow,” he stated. “You have to continue to work and get better and better and go through all practice, prove to the coaches and prove to the doctors and everybody that I’m the same quarterback I was, if not better.”

Regarding his availability for preseason games versus the regular season, Mahomes reiterated his competitive nature but acknowledged the importance of the long-term plan: “I understand the process of getting myself ready to play, and the regular season is more important. We will, the doctors and coaches will make that decision for me, but I will prepare myself like I’m gonna play.”
