The Drama Unfolds
The second season of Ransom Canyon, currently available on Netflix, delivered a rollercoaster of emotional turmoil and romantic entanglements. At the center of the controversy is the fallout between Lucas, portrayed by Garrett Wareing, and Lauren, played by Lizzy Greene, following a series of mutual betrayals.
The narrative arc shifted dramatically when Lauren kissed Lucas’ brother, Kit. In a retaliatory move, Lucas engaged in an affair with Ashley, one of Lauren’s close friends. This messy chain of events has left viewers debating who bears the most responsibility for the collapse of their relationship.
Actors and Creators Discuss the Fallout
Wareing, 24, recently shared his perspective on the complex situation.
“This is what is going to get the fans talking. Who is to blame? Who is really at fault here?”He pointed out that while Lucas’ actions were questionable, he was responding to an initial hurt caused by Lauren. He also noted that Ashley’s personal connection to Lauren added layers of tension to the narrative.
Showrunner April Blair offered a balanced view of the characters' decisions, noting the hypocrisy inherent in the situation. She explained:
“With Kit and Lauren, it was a kiss and she was like, ‘Stop.’ Meanwhile Lucas is getting down with her best friend in the car. It’s a little hypocritical to hold him too much to task for it.”According to Blair, the finale serves as a moment of closure where Lauren acknowledges the consequences of her actions.
What’s Next for Lucas?
Despite the current separation, the creative team and cast remain optimistic about the future of Lucas and Lauren’s relationship. Wareing remains a staunch supporter of the couple, stating:
“At the end of the day, she is still the love of his life. When you love something, you have to let it go. So Lucas does because he loves her so much and just wants to see her happy. Whether that is with him, or without.”
Looking toward a potential third season, Wareing hinted at further growth for his character, suggesting that as Lucas matures, his romantic life will likely evolve as well. While the path forward remains uncertain, both the showrunner and the lead actor agree that the bond between the two characters represents a deeply rooted, idealistic love that may eventually find its way back to center stage.
