Concerns Over Outdoor Conditions

UFC commentator and long-time associate of President Donald Trump, Joe Rogan, has publicly voiced his skepticism regarding the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 event. Scheduled to take place on the White House South Lawn, the event aims to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. However, Rogan remains unconvinced by the location choice.


During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, featuring guests Josh Thompson and John McCarthy, Rogan addressed the logistical issues of hosting high-stakes combat sports in an open-air environment. He specifically highlighted concerns regarding the weather, noting that historical temperature data for the mid-June date in Washington, D.C., could reach extreme highs, potentially reaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit.


«I just don’t think you should compete in a world championship fight in a non-controlled environment. It should be inside an air-conditioned arena,» Rogan stated. «You wouldn’t ask them to play a world championship basketball game outside in the sun. That would be crazy, right?»

Infrastructure and Logistics

Rogan went on to suggest that if the administration is committed to hosting such a historic event, proper infrastructure should be prioritized over the open-air format. He argued that the resources should be directed toward building a covered, climate-controlled venue, even if it is a temporary structure, to ensure the safety and optimal performance of the fighters.


Event Scope and Guest List

While the event was initially projected to draw between 20,000 and 25,000 attendees on the South Lawn, current reports indicate the capacity has been adjusted to approximately 4,300 spectators, with 1,200 of those seats allocated for active-duty military personnel. Furthermore, the event will be broadcast at The Ellipse, a nearby park capable of accommodating up to 85,000 additional viewers.


UFC CEO Dana White has been actively managing the guest list for the occasion. According to reports cited by Time, the event is expected to attract a high-profile audience, with invitations extended to prominent figures including Tom Brady, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Adam Sandler, Jared Leto, Mario Lopez, Guy Ritchie, and Jason Statham.
