A Vocal Rivalry on the Gridiron

During a recent episode of his podcast, The Rush with Maxx Crosby, Las Vegas Raiders defensive standout Maxx Crosby provided a candid look into his interactions with Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes. When asked about his on-field experience while tackling the quarterback, Crosby shared his observations with a touch of humor, hinting that Mahomes is not exactly silent during physical plays.

While discussing their recent hard-fought game—a 30-27 victory for Kansas City on October 4—Crosby described the intense physical nature of the matchup. In that contest, Crosby recorded three tackles and registered five hits on the Chiefs' signal-caller.

The Dynamic Between Rivals

Crosby highlighted the unique rapport that develops between division rivals who are pushing each other to the limit. Reflecting on their interactions, Crosby stated:

«It’s just funny, every time I hit him he rolls over and then he just peeks at me. It’s always my face and I’m just staring at him. But it’s respect, bro. He’s the best quarterback of our generation, you know what I mean?»

The defensive end emphasized that his aggression on the field is fueled by a desire to be the best in his own position, coupled with the competitive fire that comes from facing a top-tier opponent. He noted that the speed of the game often makes it difficult to assess specific plays in the heat of the moment, particularly when he is timing his hits on the quarterback.

Looking Ahead

Following the narrow victory, Mahomes acknowledged the difficulty of the game, praising the environment at Allegiant Stadium. He noted that performing at his peak was necessary to secure the win. The rivalry is set to resume on January 10, when the two teams square off in Kansas City to conclude the regular season.
