Tragic Incident at a Collinsville Gas Station

A fatal domestic incident in Collinsville, Oklahoma, has resulted in the arrest of 39-year-old Tyler Kendrick. The suspect allegedly killed his girlfriend, Amber Rena Lee, a mother of seven, during a confrontation at a QuikTrip gas station on July 3.

According to the Collinsville Police Department, Kendrick has been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Local law enforcement officials were alerted to the scene following reports that a young woman had been struck by a vehicle.

The Dispute Over Personal Belongings

Collinsville Police Chief Matt Burke indicated that while the couple had been in a relationship, they were in the process of separating their belongings. Earlier that day, a friend had assisted Lee in returning items to Kendrick. Following this, the friend drove Lee back to the QuikTrip, where her vehicle was parked. Upon arrival, the couple engaged in a verbal altercation in the parking lot.

As the conflict intensified, the friend attempted to intervene. According to investigators, Kendrick then attempted to drive away, striking Lee in the process. Chief Burke explained the sequence of events:

«We think she got hit and was pulled under by those back tires. We don’t believe the suspect intended to necessarily harm her, but we do believe his negligent actions led to her death.»

Investigation and Legal Status

While authorities are awaiting official confirmation from the medical examiner, preliminary findings suggest that Lee suffered a fatal arterial injury to her leg. Regarding the circumstances, Chief Burke noted the severe consequences of failing to manage emotions during conflicts: «This is a great example of why we can’t let our emotions get the best of us. We have to always take consideration of other people around us and the space around us.»

Following the incident, law enforcement utilized surveillance technology to track the suspect. Captain Nick Boatman of the Owasso Police Department stated that officers were able to locate and apprehend Kendrick effectively once his vehicle was identified. Currently, the suspect remains in custody at the Tulsa County Jail under a hold from the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service. It remains unclear at this time if Kendrick has entered a plea or secured legal representation.
