For actress Caroline Arapoglou, the finale served as a poignant tribute to the dedicated fan base that has supported the show throughout its five-season run.
«The whole finale is just such a love letter to everyone who has ridden with us for these past five seasons,» Arapoglou remarked. «It’s a show where you just want to see the Pogues get a happy ending — and I think that was the right way to end it.»
Arapoglou noted that the final episodes successfully recaptured the essence of the show’s debut season, creating a bittersweet yet nostalgic atmosphere on set.
Behind the Scenes of the Finale
The filming of the final episodes brought a rare sense of unity to the cast. According to Arapoglou, having both the Pogues and the Kooks on set simultaneously turned the workday into a celebratory event.
«From a practical standpoint, it was so much fun to film. It’s so rare that we’re all together on the same day,» she shared. «Having us all together was really rare, and so that whole day itself was a bit of a party.»
The Evolution of Rose Cameron
Throughout the series, Arapoglou’s character, Rose, has been a complex figure. The actress emphasized that, despite her morally ambiguous decisions, Rose’s core motivation has always been her fierce dedication to her family.
«I’ve always maintained throughout the entire run of the show that Rose really did love Ward and she really does care about the kids,» she explained. «Her methods might — on the surface — be a little bit morally gray, but for me, the heart of her has always been that she really does care about the family.»
Overcoming Physical Challenges
The final season presented unique physical challenges for Arapoglou, particularly during an intense scene where her character is confronted by Groff. At the time of filming, the actress was pregnant, leading her to rely on her stunt double to ensure safety.
«I was pregnant for the duration of this season, and at the point of filming that, I hadn’t told anybody. It was still kind of early, and then I remember getting that scene and knowing it was going to be quite stunt heavy and thinking, ‘OK, I have to tell them what’s going on,'» she recalled. «So my amazing stunt double did a lot of the heavy lifting for me.»
The Future of the Franchise
As the series concludes, Arapoglou hopes for a stable future for Rose, suggesting that the character deserves some downtime after years of schemes involving gold. Regarding the potential for a franchise expansion, the actress didn't rule out a return to the world of Outer Banks.
«Our writers, they’re so good at what they do,» she teased. «They have all kinds of ideas. If they were to come up with some kind of a spinoff, I would definitely take that call.»
