Strictly Come Dancing star La Voix is being honored by her hometown with a new exhibition dedicated to her drag career. The performer has loaned a collection of iconic costumes, accessories, photographs, and memorabilia to Preston Park Museum in Stockton-on-Tees.
"I'm from the North East and I'm really proud of those roots," La Voix said. "This museum is a massive part of my backstory, so having this stuff here means the world to me." The exhibition, titled 'Becoming La Voix', celebrates themes of self-expression, resilience, and joy.
Displayed items include outfits worn on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, RuPaul's Drag Race UK, and ITV's Britain's Got Talent. La Voix, the alter ego of Chris Dennis, noted she "never would have dreamed" her work would be celebrated locally due to a lack of visible queer culture during her childhood.
The exhibition will remain open until June 28th. Councillor Nigel Cooke stated, "La Voix's story is a celebration of talent, glamour and global success and I hope that it inspires people to follow their dreams."
