A Controversial Suggestion
Tyler Cameron is finding it difficult to settle on a team name with his Dancing With the Stars professional partner, Sharna Burgess. The 33-year-old reality star recently took to social media to propose a moniker that left his partner less than impressed.
“Our new team name, guys! Team Shart,” Cameron announced in a video. He explained the logic behind his choice: “You take Sharna and Tyler, you put them together and you’ve got ‘Shart!’”
Sharna Burgess, 41, was quick to shut down the idea, making it clear that such a title would not represent their partnership. When Cameron jokingly argued that “everyone needs a good shart every once in a while,” Burgess retorted with disbelief: “What are you, 5? Sir, at your age, a shart is criminal!”
Seeking Fan Input
Burgess expressed her frustration with the lighthearted banter, noting that she already has enough childish behavior to deal with at home, as she is a mother to a 4-year-old son. She officially rejected the name and encouraged fans to come up with more appropriate alternatives. “We need a team name. I didn’t realize we still did team names. But we need a team name! Let’s think of something that is not poop-related,” she pleaded.
Despite her objections, the nickname seems to have gained some traction online. Cameron continued to lean into the joke in follow-up videos, and even managed to get others involved, including his fiancée, Tate Madden, and fellow pro dancer Mark Ballas, who reposted the name.
Preparation for the Ballroom
The duo was officially paired for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars following ABC’s announcement on September 2. This season marks a significant return for Burgess, who is rejoining the professional ranks after a five-year hiatus.
Cameron has been open about his limited dance experience, revealing on the Get Real podcast that his past exposure to dance was largely academic and incidental during his college years. He recalled, “I was not a great dancer at all. Basically, I got thrown into dance classes because I failed out my first semester of college... I was in there giving maximum effort and giving the worst pirouettes and, like, the worst ballet dances ever.”
He noted that his previous television appearances involving dance were far less demanding than the rigorous training required for DWTS. The new season is set to premiere on ABC and Disney+ on Tuesday, September 15.
