Clarifying the Controversy
Will Compton, cohost of the popular podcast Bussin’ With The Boys, has spoken out regarding the intense reaction to his recent comments about being excluded from the wedding of NFL star Travis Kelce and singer Taylor Swift. Following the viral spread of his remarks, the 36-year-old former NFL player expressed his surprise at how seriously his words were interpreted by the public.
In a post on X, Compton wrote: «Flabbergasted at how many people took this seriously.» He further clarified that he had been contacted by various media outlets seeking confirmation on whether he felt genuinely slighted by the lack of an invitation, a notion he dismissed as ridiculous.
The Origin of the Joke
The situation began during a recent podcast episode where host Dave Portnoy noted that almost every attendee of the annual "Tight End University" camp had received an invitation, with the notable exception of Compton and his cohost, Taylor Lewan. Although Compton has collaborated with Kelce at the camp for years and even emceed the "Tight Ends & Friends" concert, he insisted that his initial frustration was purely comedic.
«I was just busting balls,» Compton remarked, describing the ensuing media firestorm as «insanity!!!»
Social Media Banter
Despite the backlash, Compton leaned into the narrative, continuing to joke about the guest list. When noting that Fox Sports rules analyst Dean Blandino had received an invite, he playfully questioned the connection, leading to a lighthearted exchange with former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel. Daniel quipped about his own history with Kelce, to which Compton responded with further humor, maintaining the playful atmosphere surrounding the event.
Well Wishes for the Couple
Even amidst the comedic commentary, Compton and Lewan made it clear that there is no actual animosity toward the couple. On the day of the ceremony, the Bussin’ With The Boys official social media page shared a photo of the duo with Kelce and Swift from a previous engagement, accompanied by a supportive message: «Congratulations to Taylor and Travis!!»
