Expanding The Big Bang Theory Universe
The iconic sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which captivated audiences on CBS from 2007 to 2019, followed the lives of a close-knit group of scientists and their companions. Over its 12-season run, the series secured 10 Emmy Awards and paved the way for the successful prequel, Young Sheldon, which chronicled Sheldon Cooper’s early years as a child prodigy.
Now, HBO Max is further broadening this television universe with an upcoming spinoff titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Executive produced and narrated by Jim Parsons—who also made a special cameo as adult Sheldon in the 2024 series finale of the prequel—this new project promises a mix of familiar personalities and chaotic multiverse stakes.
The Premise of the New Spinoff
According to the official plot summary, the show centers on the character Stuart Bloom. The story kicks off when Stuart finds himself responsible for a catastrophic event:
«restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon.»
To fix his mistake, Stuart is joined by his girlfriend, Denise, his geologist friend, Bert, and the persistent quantum physicist, Barry Kripke. As the team travels through various timelines, they encounter alternate versions of beloved characters from the original series, though, as the title suggests, the mission is far from smooth.

The series features a blend of returning favorites and new additions to the franchise:
