Brad Garrett, known for his role in Everybody Loves Raymond, has publicly reached out to support his longtime friend and fellow comedian, Carrot Top. The gesture follows reports that the performer was recently hospitalized after an alleged suicide attempt.
Taking to social media this past Saturday, the 66-year-old actor shared a photo featuring himself, Ray Romano, and Carrot Top. In his message, Garrett expressed relief regarding his friend’s current status:
«Oh my beautiful, talented friend @carrottoplive. We’re ALL thanking our lucky stars that you’re OK. Please take this time to remember how appreciated and loved you are by so many.»
Garrett further emphasized the importance of self-compassion, adding, «You’re getting a second chance for a reason. Use it wisely. We need folks like you around. Show yourself grace. We love you.»
The Situation in Las Vegas
Carrot Top, whose legal name is Scott Thompson, was admitted to a hospital in Las Vegas on Friday, September 19. Following the incident, his scheduled performances at the Luxor Casino for both Friday and Saturday were canceled. While the entertainer has not released a personal statement regarding the situation, representatives for the casino and local law enforcement have yet to provide further details.
A Longstanding Career at the Luxor
The 61-year-old comedian has become a staple of the Las Vegas entertainment scene, maintaining a residency at the Luxor since 2005. Reflecting on his career trajectory in a 2022 interview, Carrot Top admitted he was initially hesitant about settling into a long-term residency.
«I wasn’t ready to be a resident headliner. I was reluctant,» he shared at the time. «I said, ‘Let’s do a year and see how it goes.’ It was horrible for that first year... I was losing my mind, and thinking I have to get out of this gig. Then, one day it was really weird, I just started having fun and it started to click.»
That initial year evolved into a decade-long commitment, cementing his status as a Vegas icon. His performance has recently earned recognition through multiple nominations at the Best of Las Vegas Awards, including nods for Best Comedian and Best Resident Performer.
