Tragic Incident in Tennessee
Deshundre Vinson, a 22-year-old former participant of America’s Got Talent, is currently facing serious legal consequences following the death of his 4-year-old nephew. According to reports, Vinson has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple counts of aggravated child abuse in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The charges stem from a drowning incident that occurred at a local apartment complex swimming pool this past August.
The Circumstances of the Incident
Law enforcement officials state that on August 16, Vinson was responsible for watching his 4-year-old nephew and the child's 6-year-old brother. He allegedly permitted the two young boys to walk approximately two-tenths of a mile to a swimming pool without adult supervision. The apartment complex had clear signage indicating that children under 14 were prohibited from using the pool facilities without adult accompaniment.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators captured the 4-year-old walking along the edge of the pool before falling into the deep end. Reports indicate the child remained submerged for nine minutes before other individuals realized the situation. Although a bystander eventually pulled the boy from the water and attempted life-saving measures, the child tragically did not survive.
Legal Proceedings
Following the incident, police attempted to locate Vinson and the leaseholder of his residence, but both were initially missing. Vinson was apprehended more than two weeks later at a nearby property and is currently held at the Hamilton County Jail on a $750,000 bond. A court appearance is scheduled for early September.
Background on the Performer
Vinson gained public recognition as a member of the vocal trio CitiLimitz, which auditioned for the 20th season of America’s Got Talent in 2025. The group performed a cover of the K-Ci and JoJo classic «All My Life,» earning praise from judges for their vocal chemistry.
During the audition, judge Mel B complimented their performance, noting: «Your harmonies? You know your stuff! Well done!» Simon Cowell also offered positive feedback, adding: «For me, there’s nothing better than working with a band that works. You’re brothers. You’ve got this natural chemistry anyway. I really liked it!»
The group was eventually eliminated from the competition during the first quarter-final round in August 2026.
