Jesikah Suggs, a writer and producer recognized for her contributions to the hit Netflix series My Life With The Walter Boys, has passed away at the age of 32. Her death followed an eight-year battle with breast cancer.
The Legacy of a Determined Writer
According to information provided by the family, Suggs died on August 18 at her residence in Studio City, California. Her sister, Liz, shared that despite the severity of her diagnosis—which metastasized two years after it was first discovered—Suggs remained dedicated to her profession.
«Through it all, she showed up to work every day, eager to defy being defined by cancer,» Liz stated. Reflecting on her sister's resilience, she added, «Her life will continue to bear fruit in the stories told by every writer she touched — so in a sense, she’ll still be writing for a very, very, very long time.»
Professional Career and Memorials
Suggs gained significant recognition for her role on My Life With The Walter Boys, where she worked as both a writer and a producer alongside stars Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, and Ashby Gentry. A memorial service took place in Los Angeles on August 22, with a second service scheduled for the following weekend in Grapevine, Texas.
Reflecting on Strength and Support
In 2018, the writer shared her journey with chemotherapy publicly. Throughout her health struggles, she frequently expressed deep appreciation for the network of friends, family, and medical professionals who supported her.
In a previous reflection on her experience, Suggs wrote, «I am just so grateful to the Lord for his peace and presence and for surrounding me with so many people I so love who are more than willing to lend me some of their strength. The past three years were not ones I expected to live in my twenties. But that same cup also runneth over even in the darkest times—and often the most in the darkest times—because of love from all of you.»
