Disturbing 911 Call Details
In the lead-up to the tragic death of influencer Sara Gilson, an emergency call captured a harrowing scene. According to reports, an Owasso Police Department dispatcher relayed concerning sounds to first responders on Thursday, July 23, after receiving a call from a child residing at the residence.
“I’m trying to reach him back, but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background,” the dispatcher stated.
Background on the Incident
Sara Gilson, a 43-year-old hairstylist and social media personality, was discovered deceased in her Oklahoma home alongside her estranged husband, Shawn Duffey, 48. Authorities are investigating the event as a murder-suicide, which occurred just two weeks after Gilson publicly leveled serious accusations against Duffey.
Public Allegations and Legal Protections
On July 11, Gilson took to TikTok—where she had built a following of 69,000—to announce the end of her marriage, citing allegations of pedophilia against her husband. She famously used a viral social media trend to address the situation, stating:
“Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon-to-be ex-husband, who I just found out is a pedophile.”
Duffey did not provide a public response to these claims before his death. Prior to the tragedy, legal steps had been taken to ensure the family's safety. On July 10, a protective order was granted on behalf of Gilson’s 15-year-old daughter. The order, effective through August 24, required Duffey to vacate the family home and maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Gilson. According to information provided by The Oklahoman, these legal measures were sought after Gilson alleged that Duffey had inappropriately touched her daughter, an incident she claimed was observed by another coach.
Gilson is survived by her two children from a previous relationship. The Owasso Police Department is continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the case.
