A Shift in Perspective

For Jesse Solomon, the star of the reality series Summer House, a medical crisis became a profound turning point. In a recent interview, the 33-year-old explained how facing cancer forced him to reevaluate his life, moving away from a corporate finance career to focus on his true passions, including music.

«Getting diagnosed with cancer the first time was a scary thing, and then when it comes back, it was really a lesson of, ‘You never know what’s gonna happen tomorrow, so you might as well live life to the fullest today,’» Solomon shared. He noted that this mindset now extends to his personal life, as he seeks more meaningful connections, a theme central to his new single, «Wildfire.»


The Diagnosis and Treatment Journey

Solomon’s health challenges began in August 2017, with a recurrence in July 2018. Following a series of surgeries and chemotherapy, he has been in remission for seven years. He previously recalled the moment he received the initial diagnosis, noting that he had originally dismissed a minor pain as something insignificant before a routine ultrasound uncovered the reality of his condition.

Reflecting on the invasive surgical procedures and the grueling nature of chemotherapy, Solomon vividly described the recovery process:

«I was nauseous all the time and didn’t feel great. I definitely lost my hair—like, my eyebrows—toward the end. I definitely had, like, tingling in the fingers and the toes and ringing in my ears.»

Advocating for Men’s Health

Solomon is now using his platform to encourage awareness regarding men's health. He emphasizes the importance of vigilance and self-examination as critical tools for early detection. His message to other men is clear:

  • Perform regular physical self-exams to monitor for changes.
  • Do not dismiss minor or unusual symptoms.
  • Seek professional medical advice promptly if something feels wrong.

«I want men to know that they should be giving themselves regular physical exams because that’s the best way to be able to tell if there’s something going on. I caught it early... Maybe it will encourage other people to go and get checked,» he concluded.
