The Tragic Disappearance and Discovery

Stewart “Stew” McLean, an actor recognized for his work on the popular Netflix series Virgin River, became the focus of a major investigation in May 2026. McLean was reported missing to the Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after being last seen at his residence in Lions Bay, British Columbia.

As the search intensified, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the case, citing evidence that suggested McLean may have been a victim of homicide. Tragically, on May 22, authorities confirmed that his remains had been recovered in the Lions Bay area. At this time, law enforcement has not disclosed information regarding potential suspects or the specific circumstances leading to his death.


Acting Career and Notable Projects

Before his untimely death, McLean built a diverse portfolio in the entertainment industry. His final project was a guest role as a barfly in season 7 of the Netflix drama Virgin River, which premiered in early 2026.

The investigation remains active as authorities work to uncover the truth behind McLean's passing. The Squamish RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) are collaborating closely with IHIT.
