A New Chapter Post-9-1-1
Following his emotional exit from the hit series 9-1-1, actor Peter Krause is transitioning into a new role on the NBC drama Line of Fire. Despite stepping away from the fire station, the 61-year-old actor remains nostalgic for his time on his previous project and is already envisioning potential reunions.
Potential Crossover Reunion
In an exclusive conversation ahead of the series premiere on Monday, September 21, Krause shared his desire to collaborate with his former colleagues. He specifically highlighted a vision for one familiar face:
«I could see Kenneth Choi playing a fiery senator at some point in time,» Krause noted.
Diving Into Complex Characters
Krause expressed his enthusiasm for the intricate storytelling present in Line of Fire, which centers on a family of law enforcement agents caught in a dangerous conspiracy. He shared his excitement about working alongside costar Hope Davis.
«I love and feel very fortunate to be working with Hope on this project,» Krause explained. «I have not embarked on a family show or a relationship that is as complex or has as complex a history as Jane and Mike do. So this is new in that way.»
He further emphasized the depth of the narrative, noting that the characters' rich backstories provide a level of complexity he finds refreshing. «The backstory for these characters is just really big and complex, and I’m looking forward to getting in there more,» he added.
The Craft of Storytelling
The series, created by Joshua Safran, is noted for its structural brilliance. Krause revealed that he specifically requested the creative team keep him in the dark regarding information his character wouldn't know, enhancing the authenticity of the performance. «Everybody has blind spots in life and I think that it’s important in terms of storytelling that these characters — like anybody — have blind spots too,» he said.
While the show thrives on high-stakes conspiracy, Krause finds a perfect balance: «I particularly enjoy the family drama, but I know that the suspenseful elements of the show are also really well constructed by Josh.»
Reflecting on a Legacy
Regarding his departure from 9-1-1, Krause previously addressed the impact of his character Bobby Nash’s exit. In a statement following the character's sacrifice, he remarked on the importance of the storyline:
«Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this. First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day. His story arc honors them.»
During a later appearance on Good Morning America, he shared his gratitude for his time on the show, stating, «I will miss everybody dearly. This was my workplace, for eight years, eight seasons. And I am really going to miss everybody: Angela and the fire team and the crew.»
